AN URBAN WINERY IN HOUSTON

Long before wineries became synonymous with vineyard destinations, urban wineries brought grapes from the fields into cities, where wine was made closer to the people who drank it.

Decant brings that tradition to Houston. Grapes arrive at our winery on Wakefield Drive, where we crush, ferment, age and bottle our wines onsite. It means you can drink a glass just steps from where it was made.

GRAPES SOURCED FROM AROUND THE COUNTRY

Great wine starts in the vineyard. We work with growers in Texas and across the country, seeking out predominantly organic and sustainably farmed vineyards and old-vine fruit whenever possible.

We don’t blend across regions, allowing each wine to reflect where the grapes were grown. The result is a constantly evolving collection of wines from places and varieties we find worth exploring.

HANDCRAFTED WINES & OLD WORLD TECHNIQUES

Every Decant wine is made here in Houston. Fruit arrives at our winery and we handle the process in-house, from fermentation and aging through bottling.

Our approach is hands-on and intentionally low-intervention. We work with Italian concrete tanks and French oak barrels made at a cooperage in Cognac, and we don’t add sugar, color, tannins or acid to our wines. We give the fruit and the process the time they need, making wines that are expressive of where they came from.

WOMAN OWNED & FAMILY RUN

Decant was founded by Kristina and Ron Tucker in 2017.

Kristina came to winemaking through horticulture, sensory science and enology, working in vineyards and wineries while completing her graduate studies at Texas A&M University. Ron spent 20 years as an engineer in subsea oil and gas before trading that world for wine.

Today, you’ll still find both of us at Decant—making wine, running the winery and, quite often, pouring what’s in your glass.
