This small-production Malbec is deep purple in color and plush with blueberry, blackberry, wildflowers, baking spice, and stone. The fruit comes exclusively from Plum Ridge Vineyard, on the northerly slope of Sonoma Mountain. The grapes were hand-harvested in October 2021, fully destemmed, and chilled for 21 days before fermenting in neutral French oak barrels. Light punch-downs were done three times a day throughout the fermentation for a gentle extraction. The wine was aged for 30 months in 100% new French oak barrels.

Vineyard

Plum Ridge Vineyard was founded in 1986 with the goal of cultivating premium Bordeaux varietals. Nestled on a crest that overlooks the Valley of the Moon and Sonoma Mountain, to the east of Santa Rosa, the vineyard spans hilly terrain with a combination of volcanic and bedrock soils and sits at roughly 1,500 feet above sea level. The high elevation ensures cool days and warm nights, with strong winds creating an ideal canopy and grape growing conditions.
